Vinyl chloride is an organochloride with the formula H 2 C = CHCl. It is also called vinyl chloride monomer ( VCM) or chloroethene. This colorless compound is an important industrial chemical chiefly used to produce the polymer, poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC).
